Dear Cara,

Still hitting the bars every night? Too bad I can’t be there to get pissed with you. Sorry for not writing, but I’ve been well, busy. Littlebrook’s been too peaceful. Every man here is either married or uninteresting. Sure I left the city because I wanted a new start and to start my hunt again for “the one.” But I do miss the lifestyle I had when I lived downtown.

 (read on...)

But listen to this, I got a job. Yes an actual job! And not like the ones I had in downtown where I got fired every other day and then settled for working at the bar you worked at. The pay’s horrible, but I get tipped well by the men I work for (I work as a golf caddy, so get your mind out of the gutter Cara) they’re all those corporate executive type people who look like they’re dying for an affair because their wife is as frigid as a- okay I promised I would keep this clean so you know what i mean. As I was saying, turn up the charm a bit, hello 500 smackeroos on top of my paycheck! I met this guy named Lex when he was recruiting potential professional golfers. Turns out he was Devonny’s (a new girlfriend in Hickville) hubbie! Off limits. Boohoo.

Although I do admit I’ve been neglecting Melissie and Christine a bit, Christine is going through what they say a “teenage phase” how come I never remember having one? Well as I was saying, within the first week of moving here she threw a hissy fit at me for inviting some lovely guests over. Then something about me not providing for the family. But I did get a job so I see no right in yelling at me for that. She’s worse than a mother hen sometimes!

I hired a nanny for Melissie since I wouldn’t be home and Christine has school. I even talked to her to make sure she’d look after Melissie properly. I do try to spend time with them, but lately, things have been getting hectic around here.

As I was saying, Devonny’s quite different from you or me but we have our similarites. We were both city people originally and we were new to the town. Here’s the problem, her husband showed up on my doorstep a few days ago and wanted to talk to me. He’s a sweet fellow that’s for sure, but I can’t hit on a friend’s husband (and no that was excluding Diane’s husband. She wanted a reason to get a divorce and just told me to look as if I was having an affair with him) but Devonny took it the wrong way.

She rang me up later the next day after Lex appeared at my house and was completely convinced that Lex is in love with me and that I stole him away from her. I was still sleeping off the effects of getting completely pissed the night before due to that traumatic date and as a result I told her to call me back in twenty when I was awake, and hung up on her. Needless to say, definitely not the smartest thing to do to a mad insecure pregnant woman.

But anyways, he had caught me when I was all dressed up to go out on a date and asked me for help on the impending baby. I told him we’d take the conversation outside, Melissie (she’s all grown up now by the way) and Christine were both trying to do homework and last thing I wanted was Christine telling Devonny what her husband was doing in my house for that matter. They’ve been getting close and it unnerves me that Devonny is closer with my child than I am.

Knowing that Devonny felt bitter about not receiving any attention from Lex, I told him to build a nursery, it would show that he cared about her and the baby. Lex got all defensive on the whole Devonny-attention thing, but I eventually knocked it into his head that she was insecure because he hadn’t even looked at her for the past 3 weeks.

With that situation out of the way, we began to chat, and… I did enjoy the chat, a lot actually. We were laughing so hard, I was afraid my mascara would be running by the time I got to my date. But I did keep to my boundaries.

But the one thing that bugs me, is that before he left, he said “Maybe it would be easier to just divorce her.”

I’m pretty sure he meant it as a joke, but i took him by the arms and shook him violently and after he assured me that he was joking, I let him go.

It had turned dark when I said goodbye to him and I was over 20 minutes late for my date. I was glad I was 20 minutes late. The date was a disaster the guy kept trying to feel up my leg the entire dinner and I got so mad I upturned my drink on his head as I left.

Oh shoot, here comes the boss, I’d better stowaway this letter before I get fired.

Sealed with a kiss,

April

[Note: The story wasn't even coming around to this point so fast if Lex hadn't dropped by unannounced! Talk about great timing, I had dressed April up for a night on the town when he rolled by haha ]

Dear Jonathan,

Maybe you were right. Maybe mom is changing. I heard her leaving the house at like 4 AM in a battered old car with a man.

Devonny’s been mad at me for over two weeks now, she didn’t even bother cleaning the dishes from last night’s dinner! And I’m sure it’s not those “mood swings” women go through during pregnacy…
